Sanded to 320 grit then hand-rubbed two coats of tung oil. The finish shows up better in the angle
shots.

This hunk of wood has an incredible array of grain
patterns.

Headstock logo – created with model train decal
paper.

Rear of headstock shows some of the danger of
assembling the guitar before final clearcoat is
complete – I’ll have to redo the decals here.
Also, fresh off a different guitar with different
tuners, I drilled the wrong holes for the tuner screws. One broke, the other split wood.
These will have to be repaired before any clear
lacquer is sprayed.

The finish looks washed out in the front shot. It is not washed out at all in person.

Slightly out of focus shot of the grain on the other
side.
